Why can't I type
my Master Password?
The small blue input screen which is used to enter your master
password does NOT have a cursor on it, but you can still use
your keyboard to type.
Why has the program
disappeared after startup?
The program will minimize to your windows taskbar
after you enter your master password. To access it, simply
double-click the AccountLogon icon in your windows taskbar or
use the AccountLogon icon in the Internet Explorer toolbar.
Why can't I see
the AccountLogon taskbar icon?
Windows XP will hide some icons automatically. To fix
this, right click your taskbar and select "Properties". In the
"Notification" section click the "Customize" button. Locate the
AccountLogon icon and make it "Always Show" then click OK
twice to save. You must follow these instructions while
AccountLogon is already running, otherwise you will not see it's
icon.
Why can't I see
the AccountLogon IE toolbar icon?
The AccountLogon setting "Add to IE Toolbar & Menu" allows you to operate the program from a single icon in the Internet Explorer toolbar. If this setting is ON you will see an AccountLogon icon in all instances of Internet Explorer. If you do not see this icon, right click the Internet Explorer toolbar and select "Customize...", then move the AccountLogon icon to the current toolbar and up to a visible position in the list. The higher you move AccountLogon up this list, the more to the left it will appear in the
IE toolbar.
How many accounts can I add to my list?
Registered users can add as many accounts as they like, however
unregistered users have a limited number of accounts. There are
no restrictions on the number of accounts files you create.
Can I add the same website more than once?
You can add the same website as many times as you like, as long as the Nickname is different. This is useful when you have more than one account on a particular website.
Why can't I logon to my
account?
There are various reasons why the Logon Wizard will not logon to your account.
Firstly, the website you are trying to access may have changed
and the Logon Wizard no longer recognizes it. In this case you
will see the message "Logon Cancelled" or "The Logon Page
for this account may have changed". To fix this you must 'Refresh' the account from the details screen. This will ensure that AccountLogon has the latest information about the website.
Secondly, the account may need to be added differently in order to work.
Try adding the account again, but answer differently to some of the
'New Account Wizard' questions. For example, when it asks "would you like to
navigate directly to the logon page?" try answering NO. Also, if it asks "would you like to bypass the
popup window?" try answering NO, as some websites will not allow you to bypass their popup windows.
What is the 'New
Account Wizard'?
The 'New Account Wizard' allows you to quickly and easily add
your online accounts to your list. The wizard will ask you to
navigate to the website's logon page and then request that you
logon to the site using your username and password details. The
procedure is recorded and saved to your accounts list. When an
account is successfully added you will be able to logon to that
account with a single click.
Why can't I add my
account?
There are various reasons why the New Account Wizard will not recognize
the logon page. If you are not asked the question "Is this
the Logon Page?" it may be because:
Firstly, the website you are trying to add may be taking too
long to download, therefore the wizard can not process it. To
fix this, ensure that the setting "Super Fast Logon" is switched
ON and then try adding the account. If you continue to have
problems please switch OFF this setting.
Secondly, the website you are trying to add may contain only a
single
logon field, while the wizard expects at least two logon fields to
be present. To fix this, temporarily switch ON the setting
"Single Field Logon Pages" and then try adding the account. When
finished, you should switch OFF this setting.
Thirdly, the website you are trying to add may use a popup
dialog box asking for your userid and password. This is called
Basic Authentication and must be
added using a different method.
If you still can not add your account then it may be a problem
with AccountLogon, so please report it to us using the Online Support Page.
Why didn't my logon details get saved?
If you notice that your logon details are not exactly as you keyed them when adding your account, it may be because you didn't wait for the New
Account Wizard to ask the question "Is this the Logon Page?". It is important that you wait for the logon page to finish downloading and the Wizard to ask you this question, before you start keying in your
logon details, otherwise it may not record your details
completely.
If you notice that one of your logon fields were not saved, it
could be because the value was pre-filled on the logon page. For
the New Account Wizard to save your logon fields, you must type
them into the logon page.
Why does it wait for the page to finish downloading?
You will notice that when you are adding a new account, the New Account Wizard will wait for the web page to finish downloading before it asks you any questions. This is because the
wizard must make sure that all parts of the page are present before it can analyze its contents.
It is important that you wait for the logon page to finish downloading.
Does it support
MSN, AOL, Avante and other IE based browsers?
Yes, for MSN Explorer and other IE Based browsers you are not permitted to add a button to the existing toolbar. In those cases you can access AccountLogon by using the browser Context Menus. If you right click on a web page you will see a context menu with "AccountLogon" accessible from there. This allows you to use all the functionality of the program with IE Based browser.
Does it support
Firefox or Mozilla browsers?
No, AccountLogon does not currently support Firefox
or Mozilla. Those browsers do not provide access to the standard
DOM model for us to be able to securely and accurately automate
them. If you really want to see support for these browsers in
future, you should write to Mozilla/Firefox and request that
they support the standard DOM implementation instead of using
their own complex API's.
Does it support websites with Frames?
Yes, AccountLogon supports websites which use frames and nested frames.
Most of the time the program will work fine, however it will not
work if the frames come from different domains - for instance the logon frame is from "www.site1.com" and the banner frame is from "www.site2.com". The software is unable to process the various frames due to a security feature built into Internet Explorer. To get around this you can try navigating directly to the logon page "www.site1.com"
when adding the account (by using Properties to find its URL in IE).
The New Account Wizard will recognize this page and process it
as normal.
Does it support popup dialogs asking for userid & password?
Yes, some websites use a popup dialog to ask the user to enter their password and userid details. This kind of
Basic Authentication is built into the browser and is not the same as
regular webpage logons. AccountLogon does not support basic authentication, however
there is a workaround that supports this type of account. You
can trick AccountLogon into passing your logon details to the website and automatically logging you on.
This is how.
First add a regular website logon account to your list using the
"New Account Wizard" (eg. Yahoo Email) -
you do not have to enter the correct logon details for this
account as it will be changed.
Then open the details screen for this account and change the 'Website' to the
following URL "http://uid:pwd@www.site.com/page.htm"
(put your specific details here and the webpage). Save the change.
That's it, now you can logon to the account with a single click!
Why does it
no longer work with these popup dialog logins?
Recent updates to Microsoft Internet Explorer have
disabled the
http://uid:pwd@www.site.com format that is used in the basic
authentication workaround above. This means that some of your
accounts may no longer work as before - you will get a
permission denied error. To fix this and enable the original
functionality on your browser, please Open/Run the following
Registry File and restart your PC -->
IEauthentication.reg.
Why can't I
logon to websites which use popup windows?
Some websites create a second instance of Internet
Explorer to show the logon page eg. Internet Banking. These are
known as popup windows and are automatically detected by
AccountLogon when adding your account. If you are having
difficulty logging into these websites it may be because:
(1)
a third party "Popup Stopper" is running on your PC or
(2) the built-in IE "Pop-Up Blocker" was installed with Windows XP SP2.
You must disable these popup stoppers
or configure them to accept the website in question. Internet
Explorer's "Pop-Up Blocker" can be configured from the IE menu
"Tools | Pop-up Blocker | Pop-up Blocker Settings". Please check
vendors instructions for other products.
How do I lock the program to protect my details?
There are various ways to lock the application from other users.
Firstly, you can click the 'Lock' button on the main toolbox. Secondly, you can click the 'Lock'
item in the Windows Taskbar/IE Toolbar menu. Thirdly, you can set the 'Auto Lock Screen' option in the 'Settings' menu to automatically lock the application after a certain number of inactive minutes.
What if I forget my Master Password?
If you forget your Master Password there is no way of recovering it.
You must delete your accounts file (eg 'MyAccounts.dat') and create a
new one.
You can do this by running the program and clicking CANCEL at
the initial master password prompt. Then typing a new filename
in the 'Open Accounts File' dialog. The program will ask if you
would like to create the new file, you must answer YES.
What if my PC
crashed and I lost everything?
If you don't have a backup of your accounts file (eg 'MyAccounts.dat')
then you must install AccountLogon again, create a new accounts
file and add your accounts from scratch. If you do have a backup
of your accounts file, you need to install AccountLogon and then
copy your DAT file to the folder "c:\program files\accountlogon\"
(or wherever you installed the program), then that DAT file will
be opened at startup. Alternatively, put your DAT file anywhere
on your PC, then when you run AccountLogon you must click CANCEL
at the initial master password prompt, then locate your DAT file
using the "Open Accounts File" dialog box. It will then become
the default.
Also, if you are a registered user, you need to enter your email
and registration code into the program's HELP | REGISTRATION
menu. If you lost your registration details please complete our
support form.
How can I use my accounts on another machine?
It is possible to use your accounts on a different machine,
simply by copying your accounts file (eg 'MyAccounts.dat') to
the other machine. When you start AccountLogon on the second
machine, simply open the accounts file by selecting it at
startup (press cancel at master password prompt). For this to work, both machines must have the same
version of AccountLogon installed.
How can I run from
a Floppy or Removable USB Drive?
The accounts files are totally portable. Simply copy the files 'MyAccounts.dat' and 'AccountLogon.exe' to a floppy
or USB drive and insert into another machine. You can then run the program from the
disk by double clicking 'AccountLogon.exe'. This is a
very portable method and allows you to take your accounts wherever you go.
Using this method, you do not need to install AccountLogon on
the other machine.
How can I uninstall
AccountLogon and remove my details?
There are a few things you should do before running the
uninstall program.
(a) Switch OFF the user settings "Add to IE Toolbar & Menu" and
"Always Run at Startup". This will ensure the AccountLogon icon
is removed from Internet Explorer.
(b) Delete the DAT file created by the program. This will ensure
your accounts are removed completely.
Now run the Uninstall program found in the Control Panel section
called "Add or Remove Programs".
If you have any questions please see the Online Support Page.
